George grew up in Baltimore, MD, picked up the sailing bug while at summer camp in New Hampshire and went on to help develop and race for his high school’s sailing team. After a brief stint out west to get a degree in American History from Colorado College, he returned to the east coast in 2010 to work for Hurricane Island Outward Bound School in midcoast Maine.
After a few years of working in experiential education and on sail training vessels, George moved into classic sailing yachts. He worked his way up from deckhand to captain over the course of a few years, working and racing on some notable classics from Fife, Herreshoff and Sparkman & Stephens.
In 2019 George decided to give up sailing full time and took a job running the brokerage office at Rockport Marine, where he worked for the next five years as the sole broker negotiating the purchase and sale of dozens of (primarily classic wooden) sailing and motor yachts.
George lives with his wife Phoebe in Camden, ME, and in his off time likes to tinker in the woodshop, ski, play golf and explore Penobscot Bay on his 17’ Boston Whaler and International 210.
